yes, this sounds good.
 
But in practice, it means we cannot just pick one of the latest bug:
we have to pick a bug which was present there throughout the whole history
of the new regex.  To be exact, we need a set of bugs covering the whole
history...

Well, as this is too hard, we should settle with a recent bug anyway...
