This change has broken build_trtable in regexec.c:

Merge regex changes from libc, removing some of our
POSIX-conformance changes that were rejected and redoing them in a
less-intrusive way.
It's causing a write beyond object bounds, since ASCII_CHARS is greater
than sizeof (bitset_t):
if (ASCII_CHARS % BITSET_WORD_BITS == 0)
memset (accepts, -1, ASCII_CHARS);
