Given that the test requires online access, which is unreliable, I'm not
sure we should verify that the returned values are the expected ones.
For now, just invoking the function a few times to see that it doesn't
do anything obviously stupid (like crashing) is good enough for my
needs.

However, I have removed the debug printing of messages, which cleans up
the 'make check' build log of gnulib.
