I reverted the commit in your name, except for the part in
lib/openat-die.c, which Paul had reviewed and approved. And I
moved the remaining ChangeLog entry to the top.

Paul, I think you can revert the Emacs patch now.

Bruce: The next time you merge 'master' into the 'libposix' branch, you will
need to be very careful not to lose the changes that were added and then
backed out from 'master'. Is it possible that git's merge algorithm will
back out these changes also from 'libposix'. "git rebase -i" may be your
friend here.

Bruce, you're welcome to start presenting the pieces one by one, and
preferably not all at the same time.

If I see it correctly, the topics would be:

  - maint: ignore patch files

  - xalloc-die: play well when used in libposix
    - Here my question will be why libposix includes 'xalloc' or 'xalloc-die'
(GPL) when libposix should be LGPL.

  - list installable headers in module descriptions
    - Here the questions are:
What is the clearest way for a module author?
What is the purpose of EXTRA_HEADERS?
      <http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/bug-gnulib/2010-10/msg00293.html>

  - gnulib-tool: install header files
Here I'll ask why gnulib-tool would arrange to install only header files
    and not also the library.

  - gnulib-tool: transform include guards with `--macro-prefix'
    Here I'll refer you to
