I've tested the patch with various apps and GSBench. On most apps I don't notice any difference, >although GSBench shows the system working about twice as slow with the patch (although, curiously, >some tests, like Compositing, are faster).

I might look at trying to speed it up a little (like caching the method call), in case this slow down >might affect something.

Yes. That might be a problem.
But since the events are from user input,
at most time, only 2-5 events will received from one user action, except dragging.
So I feel it is fine even not try to put effort to improve that
because it is only a fraction of computing time.
