Details:

There are some error paths in -[NSString
initWithContentsOfFile:encoding:error:] that can return without storing
anything into the NSError object pointed to by error:. This is incorrect, and
can cause callers to reference uninitialized memory. Any time nil is returned,
an NSError object should be returned to the caller through the error:
pointer.
