The installation may register Icecat as a x-www-browser alternative:

DefaultAlternative="$(update-alternatives --list x-www-browser | head --lines=1)"

update-alternatives --install "$(which icecat)" icecat "$DefaultAlternative" 60

Some applications use this to know the browsers available in the system.
