you are right, of course.  I have included it to grep-2.5.1a tarball.

I'll put it to the CVS together with other 2.5.1a changes as soon as
I release the tarball.  (That patch won't be mailed here, if someone
wants to watch such details, they should subscribe to grep-commit.)
