most of the files in the m4 subdir, if not all, are copied from other
locations.  Some come from packages they check for, some are parts of
autotools which were current when they were checked in.

The former should help people which don't have the package, the later
should help people with legacy versions of autotools.

I plan do delete them all from the CVS, as they are not primary sources.
I apologize in advance for any inconvinience which this can cause; I'll
try to support the victims by providing a copy of aclocal.m4 or by
making frequent snapshots.

This means that you patch cannot be accepted now, sorry.
I'll check it again after the big cleanup of the m4 subdir.
