For the record, here are the test results with grep-2.10:

Now a different compilation failure, in dfa.c, due to declaration after
statement. Partially solved by Jim after grep 2.10 [1], but three more
changes are needed in
  kwsearch.c:43
  kwsearch.c:110
  main.c:2146
(see [2]).
