Hi Paolo,
This issue was never a release blocker.
As far as I was concerned, the only prerequisite for switching back
to binary-based egrep and fgrep was a patch to implement that.
A week ago, I would have been very receptive to a change that
reintroduced those binaries (presented with or without a reverting
commit), but I am about to make another pre-release snapshot,
so even if you had the patch right now, I would be reluctant to
accept it.
