I'm strictly following the GNU coding standards in standards.info;
$infodir defaults to $prefix/info (but can be controlled with the
--infodir option of the configure script).
It might be worth to reconsider whether $datadir/info is the better
solution. At least it would cause more symmetry between the /usr and
/usr/local tree; this might be a benefit for the user following the
principle of least suprise.

The same here; $mandir defaults to $prefix/man.
