Dear Friend of Character Education,

 

We at the Community of Caring National Office, located at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, invite you to attend our exciting, character building, summer staff development events!  (You need not be a Community of Caring school to attend.) We are extremely enthusiastic about three incredible conferences this year with a unique focus in each:

 

2005 Annual Youth Leadership Summit

“Leading with Character”

Middle and High School Students and Their Sponsors

June 26-28 and June 28-30, 2005

Guest Speaker:  Keith Nord, Former Captain Minnesota Vikings

This dynamic conference is a must for anyone who wants to help their students realize their human potential through character based student leadership. You won’t want to miss this opportunity to enhance your school improvement plan, contribute to site based management, or develop character led student leadership teams by empowering students to be responsible and caring leaders. Also, teachers, look what’s in store for you:

      Learn how to facilitate experiential team activities

      Experience an exciting and interactive adult session with Keith Nord. Work with this dynamic national leadership guru as he teaches students and staff members how to refine and apply highly effective character based leadership strategies 

      Build camaraderie and school spirit

      Develop a team action plan and get a jump-start on 2005-2006 leadership activities that inspire character in all students in your school community

This exceptional institute, featuring state and national leaders who are the best in their field, is sponsored by the University of Utah/College of Education, Community of Caring National Office, and the Utah Coalition for Civic and Service Learning. The sessions will

      inspire educators with a new appreciation for their important role in fostering outstanding citizenship and character in the next generation

      help participants develop greater expertise in integrating civic, character, and service learning concepts

      aid in educating and preparing students for their roles as future citizens

 

 

2005 Community of Caring National K-l2 Character Education Conference

“Legacy of Leadership”

July 30-August 1, 2005

San Francisco, California

Westin San Francisco Airport Hotel

Attendees will learn how to promote character-based leadership among students, and gain expertise on how effectively implementing character education can positively affect every child, every school, and every community. The conference will feature prominent speakers in the area of character education and Community of Caring, as well as offer expertise on such topics as community building, family involvement, service learning, values across the curriculum, developmental disabilities, and many others.

 

 

*Graduate credit from the University of Utah is available at each conference.*

 

 

Community of Caring is a K-12, comprehensive, whole school character education program with a unique focus on students with disabilities, and was founded by Eunice Kennedy Shriver in l982.
