But of course formulas in the title of an article are not uncommon.

By the way, a wish-list item here would be for -Thtml to generate
output without images. As we notice, images cause problems, and
also are a maintenance problem: it is easier to have a single web page
than a web page together with a few hundred images. Also, loading
may be slowed down greatly by all these images.
Of course in general $...$ formulas can be arbitrarily complicated.
But as it happens in the present case, all formulas are of the simple
type $x sub ij$ or $x sup 3$, well rendered by <i>x<sub>ij</sub></i> or so.

So, wish-list item: a grohtml option to tell it that images are
undesirable, and in-line html is preferred.
