initrd and grub

Hi, I report GRUB's bug.

Now I develop full ramdisk Linux by using initrd. When I
used GRUB on the system, I saw strange behavior of ramdisk
driver of Linux kernel.

I made some initrd image files, ramdisk96(96MB), ramdisk196
(196MB), and gziped with -9 option to /boot/ramdisk*.img.

Well, when I booted Linux kernel with ramdisk96.img and
ramdisk196.img adding "ramdisk_size=131072", the ramdisk
driver said,

-----------------------------------------------------------
RAMDISK: Loading 98304 blocks [3 disk] into ram disk...
done disk #1
Please insert disk #2 and press ENTER

                [...]

RAMDISK: Loading 200704 blocks [49 disk] into ram disk...
done disk #1
Please insert disk #2 and press ENTER
-----------------------------------------------------------

Of course, I have only one initrd image, so when I typed
ENTER, Linux kernel went to the panic. Although I tried some
kernel, version 2.2.17, 2.2.18, 2.2.19 and 2.4.2, but I got
the same situation.

Well, when I tried the same initrd images and kernel by
using LILO, I had no problem. So, I think that the strange
behavior depends on GRUB. Do you know the reason why that
situation happen? Is it known bug?
