Hello Christoph,
I'm not familiar with dumb terminals, so can I ask a question? Is what
motivated you because some dumb terminals cannot send inputs
immediately until the user inputs a carriage return?
IIRC, the current implementation was written by Klaus. Klaus, do you
agree with Christoph's new implementation? If you (and other people)
are satisfied with his change, it would be acceptable to apply his
patch.
