Agreed!
It didn't occur to me that PartitionMagic would break a GRUB setup, as
I've historically used LILO, where there's no detached piece within a
partition to worry about.
How about providing a hunk of code, perhaps as a Windows-format DLL,
that understands GRUB's blocklist layout and can regenerate it? This
code is rebuilt along with GRUB, so it tracks the current boot protocol.
When PM detects a GRUB setup, it copies this DLL to its own media (eg. a
floppy) and uses it to update the blocklist after the move/resize.
