Summary: Installing MS's MechCommander2 Kills GRUB
Original Submission: I have a dual boot system with Win98 and RH7.2 using GRUB
0.90 as comes with RH7.2. I boot off a single 20G HDD, partitioned with the
Linux stuff up over the 14G mark somewhere.
I installed Mech Commander 2 from Microsoft. On the next boot grub came up
with a text prompt only which I didn't worry about, instead booting the RH
install CD and reinstalling GRUB from the command line. Later I uninstalled
MC2, and GRUB failed on next boot. I can reproduce this problem after both
installing and uninstalling MC2.
I reinstalled the MS MBR and can uninstall and reinstall MC2 with no problems
now.
Hopefully I'm the only poor sod this happens to. Somehow, I suspect I'm not.
