GRUB Doesn't See hd1 at Boot |

I put in a secondary harddrive into my computer which
is currently running RedHat 9 to install Gentoo on.
This computer is a P3 system with an Intel D815
motherboard. I tweaked my existing GRUB config that
RedHat installed to boot into Gentoo. When I'm in
RedHat GRUB sees hd1 but when I boot up I see this:
root (hd1,0)
Error 21: Selected disk does not exist
This is what my grub.conf looks like:
default=0
timeout=5
splashimage=(hd0,0)/grub/splash.xpm.gz
password --md5 *****************************
title Red Hat Linux (2.4.20-8)
root (hd0,0)
kernel /vmlinuz-2.4.20-8 ro root=LABEL=/1
hdc=ide-scsi
initrd /initrd-2.4.20-8.img
title Gentoo
root (hd1,0)
kernel bzImage root=/dev/hdb3 hdc=ide-scsi
vga=ask
Any suggestions?
