Boot Floppy Failure |

No takers yet, so I try again:
Linux system based on RH 8.0, kernel upgraded to 2.4.20
Two partitions,
1. DOS
2. Linux
The hard drive Grub that comes with RH 8.0 (v.0.92) is customized by me to
reflect the above reality,
for example, 'menu.lst' with 'root
(hd0,1)', 'kernel /bzImage ...', 'rootnoverify (hd0,0)', 'chainloader +1'
works PERFECTLY.
PROBLEM:
Failure when trying to set up a Grub Boot diskette.
Same failure on either method (described in the info Manual and
gnu.org/.../grub FAQ):
1) The 'dd' method (dd if=stage1 ... , etc.)
2) The 'batch' method (grub --batch ... <<EOT ..., etc.)
SYMPTOMS (identical for both methods above):
a) Boot to DOS partition works PERFECTLY
b) On boot to Linux, the boot sequence dies early in the game:
right after the line, "apm: BIOS version 1.2 Flags 0x03 (Driver version 1.16)"
and just before the expected "Starting kswapd" (line which no longer shows up
on the console - the system is hung hard now and has to be cold restarted).
Please help. Thanks in advance.
