Hi I am running Suse Linux Professional 9.1 and KDE 3.3.0 and I am dual booting with Windows XP Professional.
Just recently I experienced a peculiar problem. When I booted the machine, instead of the boot menu it dropped to a command line prompt which said '>Grub' and nothing else.
I cannot boot into Linux unless I do a Install -> boot from hard disk. But this leaves me with no network card and the loss of the ability to save any files to floppy etc.
i managed to get back to Windows, by the simple expedient of fixing the MBR with the Win XP CD.
If I try to repair the boot loader via Yast I get the following comment:-
' -- checking Versions... Package Versions are OK: Grub Current Version: 0.94-25 Required version: 0.92-69'
I have tried deleting and rebooting, and then reinstalling Grub but it seems to load the same version......
I am at my wits end and would appreciate an answer to my problem.
Please can you help me?
Bob Moore
