I think you can do this by manually editing /boot/grub/device.map and
changing
(hd1) /dev/hdb
to:
(hd0) /dev/hdb
And removing the old entry for (hd0).
This is a bit of a hack, but I think it should work. I am not sure
about this, so please be careful when testing this.
