That is a bit of waste of HD space. I guess this is then a feature
request for grub.
There are 63(31.5 kB) sectors for the partition space, so that should be
enough room to fit a RAID read only driver for grub. That's assuming
grub goes in the partition sector, and not the boot sector within a
partiton.
