The command for the windows option needs to be rootnoverify not root.

This is a new problem, I have had no issues before this with loading
Windows.  I installed Ubuntu yesterday on my Windows laptop, and at that
time, and earlier today, this problem didn't happen.

It has only happened sicne I changed the default boot on  Grub in the
/boot/grub/menu.lst, the content of which is:
