Hello!
Actually, Debian, which is what Ubuntu is based on, has been making
use of the GRUB boot loader since it became widespread. I believe they
consider it to be the default one.

There are instructions someplace for having a dual boot system that
works with both Linux and Windows, however the more recent mechanism
behind how Windows starts up isn't happy with something else
cohabitating on the disk drive.
