Details:

Just installed GRUB2 for a multi-disk multi-partition configuration.
Installed GRUB2 after installing a Windows 7 image (W2K8R2 specifically).
After GRUB2 was working, found that Windows BCDEDIT tool could not access its
repository even though the directory for it was present on the Win7 partition.
My guess is that GRUB2 overwrote some BCDEDIT related information in the MBR.
GRUB1 does not cause this problem.

Worked around the issue by moving the Windows 5.2 image from another drive to
the GRUB2 drive and re-installing Windows 7 on a non-GRUB2 drive.

Otherwise GRUB2 works nicely. Had to use it because the LSI 2008 SAS
controller randomizes which physical drives appear on which drive channels
(fortunately drive 0 stays put), so needed label-style boot partition
selection.
