Details:
I have noticed that GRUB 2 have problem with my hard drive. Linux has remaped
for its purposes the disk parameters:
Size: 320072933376 bytes, 320.0 GB
Heads: 255 Sectors per Track: 63 Cylinders: 38913
My laptop BIOS does not fully support this drive it detects only half of it.
There is no BIOS update available, but Windows and Linux handle this issue.
But there is problem with GRUB 2.
Sutructure on disk is divided like this (in sectors):
Kod:
Device Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/sda1 1 2611 20972826 83 (not used)
/dev/sda2 2612 7833 41945715 83 Linux jfs
/dev/sda3 7834 15666 62918572+ 83 Linux jfs
/dev/sda4 15667 38911 186715462+ f W95 Ext'd (LBA)
/dev/sda5 15667 38650 184618948+ 83 Linux jfs
/dev/sda6 38651 38911 2096451 82 Linux swap /
Solaris
GRUB2 has problem when I ask it to load system from sda5, there is no problem
with sda2 and sda3. Writing something about table scope has been exceeded, or
sometimes UUID not found. Now, I have moved system to sda2, so I no more see
this issue but there was nothing to do when I had tried sda5.
Probably GRUB uses BIOS information. Why it cannot remap disk like Linux do
this? Or is it other problem?
