[Bug-gsl] Unable to make install on Mac OS 10.2.8

Greetings,
I'm having a problem trying to install gsl on Mac OS 10.2.8. Was able 
to successfully run tar, config and make, but when invoking make 
install, I get the following message:

Making install in gsl
make[2]: Nothing to be done for `install-exec-am'.
make[2]: Nothing to be done for `install-data-am'.
Making install in utils
make[2]: Nothing to be done for `install-exec-am'.
make[2]: Nothing to be done for `install-data-am'.
Making install in sys
make[2]: Nothing to be done for `install-exec-am'.
/bin/sh ../mkinstalldirs /usr/local/include/gsl
mkdir /usr/local/include/gsl
make[2]: *** [install-pkgincludeHEADERS] Error 1
make[1]: *** [install-am] Error 2
make: *** [install-recursive] Error 1
