Hello,

I am a member of the gnu.org French translation team, and also working
on the web page stylesheets with Ineiev. We are essentially trying to
clean them up, as a prerequisite for any future improvement. What makes
this difficult is that some pages in software/ use old versions of the
boilerplate. gtypist.html is one of them. I prepared a patch to upgrade
it to the most recent version (1.79), and to fix a few minor problems.
If you agree with those changes but don't have time to commit the patch
to CVS, I will be glad to do it. Here is a summary of the changes:

- Dead links were replaced or commented out.

- Translations of the home page were templated, and the French one
updated. I couldn't do much for the Czech translation, except commenting
out what looked like obsolete phrases or sentences, and adding the
English version of the new paragraphs.

- *.translist files were created for the home page and documentation,
and the corresponding SSIs added to the HTML.

- In the documentation pages, <meta ... charset=utf-8"> was placed
above <title> in order to display the Czech title properly.

- The logo and table of contents were restyled: they both float right on
wide screens, and are centered on narrow ones.

The attached archive includes an overall patch, the translation lists
and the new versions of the home page. I didn't include the modified
documentation files because the corresponding diff is very short.

Of course, these are only suggestions. I will try to answer any
questions you may have.

Best regards,
Therese
