Yeah, they're a big pain, but they are sooooo useful.  We can't just
drop them.

In fact, I'd love to have zhead and ztail too -- not for this release, of
course.  (And zgrep needs to support -r. :)

A separate package seems like overkill for a few scripts.  Maybe we
could find someone else to maintain them, though.

Adding zpager sounds unobjectionable (not that I'm arguing for it
myself), but changing the behavior of zmore seems to me like creating an
incompatibility for users for no good reason.  Anyway, postponing any
non-critical changes is clearly desirable.
