I am dropping this patch.  diskfs_start_bootstrap is not a private function
(even though the only extant caller is another diskfs function).

Your comment changes have a lot of random moving about and refilling, 
so if there are particular additions or wording changes that are actually
worthwhile, I don't readily see them.
