Just to be really clear: I did not suggest a 0.3 release.
But still, it would be nice to have a list for 1.0, so I agree with
you there. Perhaps even a list for requirement of the releases in the
meanwhile. Something like:
Version 0.3:
- dhcp
- ext2 (> 2gb)
- console repeater
- fix bugs: foo, bar, baz
Version 0.4:
- console on startup
- console: x switching
- fix pthreadd so firefox works
- fix the gnumach serial driver
Version 0.5:
- posix shared memory
- fix fakeroot
etc.
Or perhaps make a list of tasks, assign points to each task (dhcp: 5,
etc) and make a new 0.x release whenever 25 points were added after
the last release.
I do not propose this exact list. But I think it would be nice, or
even stimulating to have a list of important items. First of all, we
can release more often. And I think it would be nice for developers
to see: If I do this and he does that, we will have a new release.
Anyway, what my goal is is not only suggesting things. I hope one or
more Hurd maintainers will pick up some ideas or even make the list.
Or perhaps I can volunteer to make a list of items with some other
people and let you guys shoot on it and to make it official
afterwards.
What do you think? I hope it is not too silly? ;)
Thanks,
Marco
