Thanks for the offer. I think its an excellent way to fill your time and keep 
your hand in. Could look good for you resume too! As it happens, a few months 
someone else also volunteered for this task. I haven't had any contact with 
him for the last couple of months, so I don't know what progress he is 
making. He is David Kern and can be reached at

I'm copying him with this mail and think that it would be best if you discuss 
together with him any role you might like to play in the project. This year 
I, unfortunately, have not even had the time I would have liked to spend on 
maintaining the current tool so despite a wish to do so I am not able to 
contribute much to the new development.
