Install SUSE 9, can't run Lilypond

Hi,

I sent a message to the 'lilypond-user' and they suggested I email you folks.  
I installed SUSE 9, with Lilypond 1.8.1, and when I type 'lilypond' I get the 
following error message:

"GNU LilyPond 1.8.1ERROR: In procedure primitive-load-path:
ERROR: Unable to find file "lily.scm" in load path "

lily.scm is in my /usr/share/lilypond/1.8.1/scm/ d

directory, but it isn't where it's supposed to be apparently.

Any help much appreciated.
