What intro documentation do you refer to? At www.lilypond.org, just 
click on
the documentation link corresponding to the version you are using, to find
up to date versions of the Tutorial and the other documentation.

Note also that version 2.9.x is a development which should be considered
"unstable". For any real typesetting work, I would recommend the latest
stable version, 2.8.x.
