PyGTK is definitely an option. wxPython looks like another very
reasonable possibility.

Yeah, that would be pretty simple, I think.

Hmm, I'll have to take a look at that editor.
The problem of syntax highlighting is something that's been bugging me
for a while now, but I'll save that for another big feature request to
bug-lilypond (and maybe the lily-proposals list) once I can articulate
my ideas clearly. :-)

This would be a nice feature, but should be implemented *after* we
have a working text editor. Also, in the future, we can expect to see
a nice libgnupdf, and we might consider using that.

Okay, thanks. Since this is obviously still in the brainstorming
