Why not make all the changes at once?
If it is true that it's possible to change note names in safe mode via some
sort of
work-around (please let me know), then I agree it's not so urgent and it
falls into
the "pure cosmetic" bucket that can wait for 3.0.
Otherwise, there is a functional/usability element to it that should be
addressed as
soon as reasonable.
I don't think that 2.14 will require any tool modification.
If this is the only planned syntax change that is not purely cosmetic, then
it would
be one argument in favour of waiting for 3.0.
