Thanks for the explanation, Carl, indeed! I've missed some points, now it is a bit clearer!

But... Sorry, please don't mind .)

I've changed summary field and status --- i think this issue is not invalid. So far ,)

I've attached another .ly sample (it's a bit larger, two lines) and two pictures.

Please, take a look:

First case, two Lyrics with affinities UP and CENTER accordingly --- all others are 2.13.29's defaults --- and everything looks great (as for me), in the upper staff lyrics are aligned beautifully (please don't change this in 2.13.31!-).

Next case, CENTER and CENTER, two lyrics *should* be centered, i do believe, --- but there is a gap, which can not be avoided (i tried, but failed, sorry again) with spacings --- those zeros and 0.2 for 'padding can not keep that great, nice space between lyrics in the second staff and align lyrics in the first one at the same time.

That's why i say that "some combination of 'staff-affinity for two Lyrics may cause unwanted vertical space". I still don't think this was intended to make UP'ed and CENTER'ed lyrics aligned and make a gap between two CENTER'ed ones.

Please do not mind --- i can miss something, easily.

And i am still not sure that this report is ideal --- but i think "somewhere there is some imperfectness" anyway.

Thank you.

ps. 2.13.28 makes both cases the same with exception of space in the second staff --- a gap is a bit narrower with "CENTER and CENTER". I'd say 2.13.28 makes "more acceptable" result still.
