It is documented in "Extending", and quite more so than the previous
state.
I don't want to imply that I consider the state of "Extending"
satisfactory, but that is actually inversely related to my ongoing work:
whenever I am tempted to exhaustively document the current state of
affairs, the current state of affairs drives me bonkers. So I tend to
first give it a complete overhaul/reimplementation, _then_ document it.
I am sure this is totally not an ISO-certifiable process, and it has the
rather unfortunate property of discouraging exhaustive documentation of
the current state by whoever wants to tackle it. But since this process
takes time, and more time the worse the current state of affairs is
documented, improving the documentation is still a worthwhile job if
someone likes working on it.
Anyway, since "Extending" is a tome of rather minuscule size, I
encourage even the grand toads to glance over it occasionally in order
to find out whether some things have become remarkably easier to do.
