I use autoconf-2.59 ,automake-1.9.6 and libtool-1.5.18
Why not just run ./configure as shipped?
I use following steps to create configure file:
libtoolize -c --force --automake
aclocal
autoheader
autoconf
automake -a -c
autoreconf -fvi will do a better job.
The following lines is error information:
/usr/share/aclocal/autoopts.m4:22: warning:
underquoted definition of AG_PATH_AUTOOPTS
Your /usr/share/aclocal/autoopts.m4 was written for an earlier
version of autoconf. Either update it or delete it.
autoheader: error: AC_CONFIG_HEADERS not found in
configure.ac
configure.ac: no proper invocation of AM_INIT_AUTOMAKE
was found.
configure.ac: You should verify that configure.ac
invokes AM_INIT_AUTOMAKE,
configure.ac: that aclocal.m4 is present in the
top-level directory,
configure.ac: and that aclocal.m4 was recently
regenerated (using aclocal).
automake: no `Makefile.am' found for any configure
output
automake: Did you forget AC_CONFIG_FILES([Makefile])
in configure.ac?
In any case, bootstrapping in mingw is not well supported.
You will probably get further if you bootstrap in cygwin,
and then run ./configure from mingw.

Gary.
