I'm not familiar with Linspire - perhaps you are better off asking them
for help why your installation is incomplete.

Your config.log showed that you don't have gcc or even cc on your PATH,
but that you do have a reasonable PATH. I'm thinking that your problem is
not with M4, but with your installation.
