There is no problem with your configure script.
It is exactly the same as mine.
Your config.log is shorter than mine but I configure in mh and other programs,
so I can't directly compare.
But, I did run ./configure with not options and encountered no problems.
Questions for you:
(1) do you have the /usr/include files such as stdio.h, unistd.h, etc
(2) Why do you have <CR>'s, aka \m or 0x0d, codes in your config.log file?
This could seriously scew parsing up.
Are you using a dos type editor to edit the config.log file?
Also please keep space characters out of your file/dir names.... Thanks
