And include all the missing info:
I assume you use cygwin - what version
The exact error message
Did you try to build some toy project just to check that your toolchain works?
I assume you are aware that you need a cross ctoolchain .a s you are building
on Windows XP but your target is a linux based box - so the native supplied
gcc does not work for you.
Anyway - please take it to linux-kernel and include the above requested
info.
