I don't know, I don't get it and I see nothing wrong with the command given. Building the doc automatically is more problems that I imagined for automake... In any case, the doc is made last; so if it fails it's no big deal. The compiled doc is in the distributed package anyway and you don't even need to redo it. If you want the info file installed, the best is then to do "install-info mcsim.info" yourself.
Sorry about that. Maybe I should remove the troubled makefile from the doc directory...
