Well, you and Roozbeh stepped down :).

    Roozbeh believes that updating miscfiles is not really possible
    without infringing copyright of many sources that use different
    licenses (including Wikipedia for example).

I agree licensing is a significant concern with this stuff in general.
Anything that we're illegally distributing should of course be removed
(if there is anything -- I don't know of anything specifically).  That
has nothing to do with "updating", per se.

But as for Wikipedia -- that material is freely redistributable, after
all.  We don't have to relicense anything here.

    If you have someone who can take care of miscfiles, but all means,
    go for it.

Thanks :).  Alfred Szmidt just made the 1.5 release, which is what
prompted my mail.  There are a couple other volunteers too.
