Missing curses.h warning |

I have tried to compile oleo on a Debian linux version 2.2.
When I type ./configure --without-motif && make
I get an error message saying a file "curses.h" cannot be found.
I think my system has run some curses-based applications, and
I have files:
/lib/libncurses.so.5.0
/lib/libncurses.so.5
/lib/libncurses.so.4.2
/lib/libncurses.so.4
