Ouch!   Probably some library incompatibility issue (?)
(Anyone know?  I'm rather ignorant about this stuff!)

Well, you didn't say which partitions are being used for what.
df output or /etc/fstab contains this mapping ;-)

Also, ext2 doesn't support resize-the-start, so shrinking one
ext2 partition, and growing another into the freespace won't
work (one of those operations will involve "moving the start")

So, you have to resort to tricks like copying partitions around,
or linux-swap, etc.
