Before I started, the 6 partitions on /dev/hdc were all FAT16, according
to fdisk. At present, fdisk says that /dev/hdc9 is "Win95 FAT32".
I don't have a record of the session, but I think it went something
like this:

address@hidden:~# parted /dev/hdc
GNU Parted 1.4.11
[...]
Using /dev/hdc
Warning: The operating system thinks the geometry on /dev/hdc is 779/128/63.
You should check that this matches the BIOS geometry before using this program.

1 0.031 507.937 primary FAT boot
2 507.938 3063.375 extended
5 507.968 1015.875 logical FAT
6 1015.906 1523.812 logical FAT
7 1523.843 2031.750 logical FAT
8 2031.781 2539.687 logical FAT
9 2539.718 3063.375 logical FAT
(parted) check 9
(parted) resize 9 2539.718 3063.375
[At this point, parted asked me whether I'd like to convert the partition
to FAT32. I think I said cancel the first time, then entered the resize
command again and said no, then did it again and said yes.]

[IIRC, this last entry said FAT32 when I ran it before.]

Neither can I now. If I could reproduce the state of the disk beforehand,
I suppose I'd have a better chance of doing so... I've just tried the
sequence of events I described above on partition 8 of the same disk,
but this doesn't trigger the bug. Sorry.
