I think that's undesirable, because of the garbage-in garbage-out
principle.  You don't know what information you can trust, so you
shouldn't start doing strange things without asking the user.

Just shrinking/growing the extended partition allows the user to
choose what they want to do.  (And it's the best guess as how the
table should be, IMHO)
