This is very obscure.

I suggest you do this:
(1) get another hard disk
(2) install Windows on the other hard disk
(3) compare the partition tables, and try to figure out what is wrong.
You can do this by sending us the first 16k of each disk:

        dd if=/dev/hda of=hda.image bs=16k count=1
